By visiting this website you agree to the following terms and conditions. If you don't like them, do not visit this site.

Terms of Use

Our Terms of Use describe what we expect our visitors to accept. Our Terms of UseĀ  include the latest version of the following documents that specify further details:

  • acceptable forum contribution policy: helps you to write forum contributions in such a way that we do not have to remove them (netiquette).
  • privacy policy: explains what we do with the data that you share with us.
  • licencing: explains what you can and cannot do with the content of this site.
  • disclaimer: explains our limitations and what we cannot do for you (see below).

Should you have any further questions, then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Changes to Terms of Use. We reserve the right to change the Terms of Use at any time without any notice by posting the latest version on this website. In case of an update, all future interactions between you and us will be governed by the new Terms of Use. In appropriate cases, there will be a 14 day period before the new terms become active.

Disclaimer

If you want to visit this site, please consider the following:

  • No responsibility for linked sites, pictures and texts.
We want to make absolutely clear that we reject all responsibility for the content of sites that we link to, especially from the high scores section. Other websites may deceive you, offend you, hack your computer to misuse it for serious crimes, steal your credit card numbers and eventually cause you all sorts of financial, psychological, social and other damage. While we try our best to prevent all of this, we cannot guarantee for anything. In this respect we are not different from all the other respectable sites on the web, as nobody can guarantee this. We especially distance ourselves from links and content on the pages of our sponsors.
  • No responsibility for high score entries and forum contributions.
We decline all responsibility for the content and the links published in our high scores section and in various associated forums. The corresponding authors of these entries are responsible for their own statements and links and have to indemnify us for all problems that we may get into by publishing their contributions.
  • No responsibility for enforcing our own policies.
We also want to make clear that we reject all responsibility for properly enforcing our acceptable use and feedback policies or other Terms of Use. While we obviously try to follow these rules as good as possible, errors may occur and go unnoticed for quite some time. Also there may be quite some issues, where different opinions are possible. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that all content on our site will conform to all our policies according to all possible interpretations of our policies.
  • No guarantee of continual availability.
The reliability of our site is closely tied to various external factors. In the case of large unforeseeable man-made or natural catastrophes we cannot even guarantee that this site will ever come up again after the catastrophe, resulting in the loss of simulation results and high scores. This sounds terrible, but the standard fine-print of all webhosters will ensure that they are not liable to you, if something like three large meteors strike them at their vulnerable points. This means that you will have to accept our services as they are and cannot claim financial compensations for what we could not do for whatever reason.
  • No guarantee of not being hacked.
While we try our best to avoid our site being hacked, we cannot absolutely guarantee that. Therefore we reject responsibility for any damage that might arise out of that (like your computer gets hacked because our site was hacked without anybody noticing). We also reject any resposibility for damage that is the result of distributed denial of service (DDoS) or other denial of service (DoS) attacks that render our site unavailable. We deny liability in the case that our mailing lists or other sensitive data get stolen despite our best efforts to prevent this.
  • No guarantee of smooth simulator operation.
While we do our best to ensure that the simulator is as secure as possible, we cannot accept responsibility for any incidents that result from faults in the simulator, be it hacker incidents, software problems or hardware problems. We cannot guarantee, that the continued operation of the simulator will not expose some interent weaknesses in your computer that result in hardware or software failures.
  • No guarantee of answering email on time.
While we try our best to answer reasonable emails sent to our site, we cannot guarantee that we will answer all (or even a large fraction) of them. This depends on a multitude of issues like SPAM-filters, the number of emails received, and the (wo)man-power currently available.
  • No guarantee whatsoever.

By using our services you acknowledge that evolutionary-research and the operators of this website have the authority to decide how much work is needed to put reasonable effort into ensuring smooth, secure, uninterrupted and responsive services. We do work hard towards this goal, but we don't want to become paranoid! All we say is that you have to take our services as they are and not as you would like them to be.
