I am an evolutionary biologist and my research centers on detailed simulation models that integrate biological knowledge about evolution. I build such models to explore many questions, including potential genetic causes for the extinction of species and mechanisms of adaptive evolution. Because many of these questions require very complex computations, I started evolution@home, the first global computing system for evolutionary biology. I am also interested in distributed computing research that helps to develop the quality and robustness of the infrastructure of evolution@home.
